Harold F. Ohnmeiss Jr., 70 of Williamsport, passed away unexpectedly on Monday Jan. 15, 2024, from a heart ailment.
Harold was born on March 28, 1953. He was the son of the late Harold Ohnmeiss Sr. and Mary (Bennett) Ohnmeiss.
Harold loved his country and he proudly served in Vietnam. He retired from the Genesee Railroad in New York state. Harold was a loyal friend, hard working, was well liked by his buddies, and had a warm personality. So many people enjoyed being around him as he was upbeat and had a wonderful sense of humor and optimism. He made a difference in the lives of many. Everywhere he went, Harold made a friend. From all walks of life, Harold befriended so many. He had a gift of putting smiles on others' faces as soon as you met him.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed martial arts and was a darn good dancer! On warm days, you would find him cruising on his motorcycle or just relaxing on the back porch with Kathy and their dogs. Harold was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Harold is survived by his life partner and love of his life, Kathy Campana Hutchinson. He is also survived by his step-children, Olivia Hutchinson (Rod Witherite), Gabriel Hutchinson (Rachael), Natalie Hutchinson Pena (Travis Pena) and step-grandchildren Anthony Hutchinson, Angelo Casas, Dylan and Gianna Hutchinson, Coleman Witherite; and Louie, his pet beagle, whom he all loved dearly.
In New York state, Harold is survived by two brothers, Barry (Lori), Michael, and a sister, Pamela.
Locally, he is also survived by his uncle, William Kurtz of Duboistown, (whom he spoke with on a daily basis); dear cousins, Tammy Harris, Bill Kurtz, Deana Kurtz and his aunt, Judy and uncle, Charlie Epright.
He valued his many close friendships including Rock, Viv, Travis, Leo and Alice Pena, Gabriel Hutchinson, the Rider and Bowersox families, his dear friend in New York, Jordan Denmeade, and the guys at S&S Taxidermy.
Arrangements are being made by Addison Funeral Home, Angola, New York.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
