Nicholas Anthony Casale died on April 26, 2024, at Leighton Place after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 6, 1931, son of John & Louise Casale, of Williamsport. He was predeceased by his parents; and step-daughter, Pamela Mallott.
Nicky graduated from Williamsport High School in 1950. He attended Penn State University, belonged to the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and sang in the Penn State Glee Club. He obtained his B.A. degree from Lycoming College in 1954, where he lettered in Tennis. He received his master's degree in secondary education from Bucknell in 1960.
Nicky did his student teaching at Jersey Shore Elementary School, then went to Round Hills Elementary School and Lancaster Area School District. He retired from Warrior Run Elementary School after teaching there for 29 years.
Nicky enjoyed being a teacher and always said he would do it again for free!
He also loved music and was a talented singer and drummer. At age 15, Nicky appeared on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Show and won the audition for that week. He was asked to return, but, being so young and inexperienced, he declined. Also, at age 15, he played with Johnny Nicolosi's band, The Top Hatters as a singer and drummer. From there, he went on to play with Sammy Ray and the Crescendos, the Joe Scarfo Band and finally The Classics, which appeared nightly at the Genetti Hotel and many other venues around Williamsport for several years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Anna P. Brown, to whom he was married for 53 years; step-children, Raymond (Mary Jo) Stahl, Penny (Dave) Stom, and Emily Maiolo; grandchildren, William (Janet) Siddle, Regina (Robert) Rooker, Jesse Dean Stahl, Edward and Brian Maiolo, Megan (Clint) Eppelman, Trisha Stahl. Nicky is also survived by his sister, Angela (Jack) Herbein; and nephews, Steven and Jeffrey Flick; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E, 3rd St., Williamsport on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. with his pastor, Rev. David W. Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggest memorial contributions in Nicky's name may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 711 W. Edwin St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
