Doris A. (May) Myers, 86, of Hughesville, died Friday, May 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by family and under the care of Geisinger Hospice.
Born June 25, 1937, in Hughesville, she was a daughter of Harry L. and Blanche P. (Snyder) May. She and her husband, the late James E. Myers, who passed away on May 9, 2022, shared a wonderful life of 64 years together. Doris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed fishing, spending time in the garden, traveling with her husband across all 49 states, only missing Alaska, collecting pigs, and most of all, spending time with her family. Doris dedicated her life to caring for her children and helping her husband on the farm, and they will miss the Doris Myers Catering Service on family workdays in the future.
Surviving are three sons, Carl L. (Gina) Myers of Benton, Rick E. (Brenda) Myers of Hughesville, and Roger D. (Deb) Myers of Hughesville; a daughter, Christine A. Spaide of Hughesville; a grandson, Matthew K. Spaide of Hughesville; a brother, Dave May of Muncy; two sisters, Shirley Charles of Hughesville and Mary Lou Breniesen of Hughesville and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by three brothers, Art May, Pete May and Dean May.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St. in Hughesville, with Pastor Doug W. Mellott, officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to a Leukemia charity of the donor's choice.
