Vivien R. Morris
Vivien R. Morris, 82, formerly of Dunlo and, since 2015, a resident of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Williamsport Home, with family by her side.
Vivien was born in Dunlo, Pa on February 9, 1942, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Micko) Yonkoski. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Kraig M. Morris, and sister, Martha Volcjak. She is survived by her daughters, Kelly ( John) Pellegrino and Gretchen A. Brubaker; a son, James F. Morris Jr; daughters-in-law, Linda Morris (Kraig) and Laura Morris, grandchildren Joseph Morris, Hannah (Thomas) Trieu, Kaitlyn (Kyle) Winton, Nicholas Pellegrino, Damian, Hayden, and Cassandra Michael, and John and Elizabeth Morris; great-grandchildren Rowan John Winton, Gwendolyn Winton, and Rowan Robert Trieu, and her brother, John (Dolores) Yonkoski.
Vivien graduated in 1960 from the former Adams-Summerhill High School, now Forest Hills School District, and earned a BS in speech therapy in 1964 from the former Indiana State Teachers College, now IUP. Vivien also received her teaching certificate from Saint Francis College, Loretto, and was qualified to teach at the elementary through high school level. Before moving to Williamsport, she was active in the former Corpus Christi Catholic Church, now Saint Michael’s Parish.
She met her husband James “Jim” F. Morris at a phone booth outside of the Dairy Dell in Beaverdale, Pa. They dated for several years and, after her college graduation, they were married on July 18, 1964, at Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany, where Jim was stationed. Jim died on December 8, 2017 after 53 years of marriage.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service at the Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery in Dunlo will be held at the convenience of the family. The family respectfully suggests that memorial contributions in Vivien’s name may be made to either the Dunlo American Legion Post 573, 125 Lloyd St., Windber, Pa 15963 or the Beaverdale Public Library, 506 Jefferson Ave., Beaverdale, Pa 15921.
