Margaret “Peg” Wesneski
Margaret “Peg” Wesneski, 72, of Canton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on early Sunday morning, February 2, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Margaret Jean was born August 30, 1952, at the Troy Hospital, she was a daughter of the late George Sr. and Margaret (Greene) Schoonover.
Peg was a graduate of Canton (CHS), class of 1970 and furthered her education at Lycoming College receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. On July 3, 1971 she married her high school sweetheart, Wesley “Tink” Wesneski in Canton. Together they raised three children and shared 53 years of loving marriage.
In earlier years, Mrs. Wesneski was employed by the Towanda School District as their high School’s Nurse. In 1996, She was proud to establish as owner and founder of the Evergreen Halfway House in Canton, a treatment facility of adolescent addiction.
Later, Peg worked as a Mental Health Caseworker for UPMC Community Care until her retirement in June of 2022.
She was of the Christian faith, after being raised Catholic and was a devoted member of the New Life Church in Canton. Peg loved anything that involved spending time with her family, especially attending sporting events, camping and volunteering whenever she could.
Margaret leaves behind her husband, Wesley “Tink” Wesneski at home, two sons, Lyle (Jenn) Wesneski of Canton; Luke (Kelly) Wesneski of Williamsport; nine grandchildren, Garrett, Vanessa, Kali, Keri, Chloe, Tatum, Brady, Brett, Bryce; four great grandchildren, Emma, Brodey Braxin and Hayzlee; siblings, Dottie (Wayne) Geisler, George (Jean) Schoonover, Tom (Mary Beth) Schoonover all of Canton; Mary (Larry) Herman of Roaring Branch; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Besides her parents, Peg was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Amy Wesneski Bryington on March of 2013.
A private family service to celebrate Peg’s life will be held at the convenience of the family. A private burial will be held in Canton’s St. Michael’s Cemetery.
