Dorothy L. Phillips
Dorothy L. Phillips, 98, of Cogan Station, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence. Born May 14, 1926, in Sandusky, OH, she was the daughter of Adelbert J. and Zelma A. (Smith) Stadler. Dorothy was the wife of Gordon B, Phillips with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Dorothy inspired many with her quick wit and amazing talents that included quilting, cake decorating and tap dancing. She wasn’t afraid to be herself and to step up even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles. She always believed that as long as you keep moving forward you would get to where you were supposed to be.
Dorothy is survived by daughters, Margaret A. “Peggy” (Keith) Ellison, of Williamsport, Lynda L. Phillips, both of Williamsport; son, Robert “Paul” (Cynthia) Phillips, of Montoursville; 8 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon B. Phillips on August 21, 2010, and by a granddaughter, Rae L. Cartwright on September 20, 2021.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St. Montoursville, with Rev. Michael S. McCormick officiating.
Burial will be private at and held at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call on Monday, March 10, from 6 to 7 p.m. at McCarty Thomas Funeral home, 733 Broad St. Montoursville.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
