Jean Marie (Eberlin) Duck

Jean E. Duck, formerly known as Jean Marie Eberlin, age 75 of Salem, Ohio, passed peacefully at Hospice House on March 14, 2025, following a lengthy battle with health complications which she fought with strength and grace.

She was born July 22, 1949, in Muncy Valley, Pa, to Robert Bacon and Mary Alice (Myers) Eberlin. Jean was a 1967 graduate of Sullivan County High School and Lock Haven State College in 1971 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts majoring in English and Humanities. She continued her education at Youngstown State University obtaining an associate’s degree in nursing in 1983.

Professionally, she worked as a child protective case manager in the rural mountains of West Virginia, she and her husband were house parents in a college dorm in WVU, and ultimately she spent the majority of her career path as a registered nurse at Omni Manor for over 20 years. She was a board member on the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities for twelve years. She was passionate about family and lived a life of service, often putting others’ needs before her own.

Jean is survived by her 96-year-old father, Robert Eberlin; son, Jason Duck (Melanie); daughters, Heather Waselich (Brian) and Jenna Rovira; grandsons, Trevor Berlin, Nathaniel Duck and Joseph Bryan; step-granddaughters, Sullen and Zaillin Rovira, and great step-grandson, Latham Rovira-Crosdale. Preceding her in death are James and John Duck (twin sons who passed shortly after being born prematurely) and her mother Mary Eberlin.

There will be no calling hours, or funeral services per her preference. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to celebrate her legacy. Those who wish to express sympathy may do so by making a memorial donation to Hospice of the Valley.
