Nancy J. McConnell

Nancy J. McConnell, 98, of Williamsport, died Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at her home. Born September 10, 1926, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of Robert Henry Peters and Margaret Jeanette (Speilman) Peters.

Nancy graduated from William Penn High School (Harrisburg) in 1944. She worked at Aetna Insurance Company in Harrisburg for approximately 10 years.

She married her husband, George R. McConnell in 1953 and relocated to the Williamsport area in the early 1960’s. She worked as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Manufacturer Association (PMA) insurance company from 1977 until her retirement in 1993.

Nancy enjoyed going on cruises with her family and friends, fishing on Dalhousie Lake in Ontario, Canada, reading, watching TV and spending time with family, friends and their dogs.

Nancy is survived by daughter, Cathy J. Bennett, of Williamsport; son, Charles R. (Brenda) McConnell, of Ruther Glen, Va.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, George R. McConnell; daughter, Barbara Breen; sisters, Martha Peters and Beatrice Deimler.

In keeping with Nancy’s wishes no service will be held.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
