Doris W. Stackhouse

Doris W. Stackhouse, 85, of Williamsport passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Leighton Place.

Born January 16, 1940 on the family farm in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Bernadine (Holt) Wacker.

Doris graduated in 1957 from Williamsport High School. She started a lifelong career at the former Bell Telephone company and retired from Verizon after 40 years of service.

Doris was a devoted member of Oak Grove C&MA, where she served faithfully as church secretary for many years and was active in both the church community and the choir. She also volunteered with the Old Lycoming Township election board. Known for her easygoing nature and quiet strength, Doris cherished time spent with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, never letting her pain overshadow her warmth and grace.

Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Robert L. Stackhouse; two children, Heather Stackhouse of South Williamsport and Brian Stackhouse and his wife Laura of Powell, OH and their three children, Elizabeth, Alexander, and Emily; three siblings, Mabel Weigle (John) of St. Louis, MO, Joyce Krause (John) of Williamsport, and Timothy Wacker (Pat) of Greer, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Wacker and his wife, Della and Robert Wacker and his wife Margaret.

A memorial service to honor Doris’ life will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24 at Lycoming Valley Baptist Church, 4980 Lycoming Mall Dr., Montoursville, PA 17754. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at church. Burial in Green Lawn Memorial Park will be held at the convenience of the family.
