Joyce J. “Joey” Hocker

Joyce J. “Joey” Hocker, 77, of Harrisburg, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at UPMC Harrisburg. She was born on December 23, 1947 in Muncy, Pa to the late Donald E. and H. Geraldine (McCormick) Jarrett. She attended school in Montgomery, Pa and graduated in 1965. A proud graduate of the Polyclinic School of Nursing, Class of 1968, Joey began her lifelong career in nursing first at the Polyclinic Hospital and then after its merger into Pinnacle Health, she finished her 49 years as a nurse at Harrisburg Hospital.

Joey is survived by her children, Michael Hocker and wife, Mary, of Harrisburg; Shannon Baker and husband, David of Dauphin; grandchildren, MaryKatherine E. Nazar and husband, Jared Hollis of Chandler AZ; Jacob M. Baker, Peyton E. Hocker, Lucas M. Hocker; great-grandchildren, Jax, Kash, and Colson; brothers, James L. “Jim” Jarrett, Sidney “Sid” Jarrett; aunt, Virginia Beck; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Harrisburg, beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Joey to the Polyclinic Hospital Nurses’ Alumni Association or the Breakthrough T1D for diabetic research.
