Mary Jo Cillo

Mary Jo Cillo, of Loyalsock Township, died on May 8, 2025.

Born in 1938 in Bastress Township, she was the former Mary Jo Stopper, daughter of the late Clarence A. and Verna F. (Riedy) Stopper.

Her husband, the late Edward J. “Skip” Cillo Jr., predeceased her in 2000. They celebrated 40 years of marriage. A son, Keith E. Cillo, predeceased her in 1999; and two brothers, David Stopper in 1958 and Bernard A. Stopper in 2015.

Mary Jo was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Montoursville. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary’s High School.

She is survived by a son, Curtis J. (Catherine Rust) Cillo, of Fairfax, Va.; a daughter, Cindy J. (Randy Pricher) Cillo, of Williamsport; and one grandson, Sydney J. (June Grasso) Dowling, of New Castle. Also surviving is one brother, Charles J. (Susan) Stopper; nine sisters, Sister Verna Marie, SCC, Sister Mary Clare, SCC, of Williamsport, Antonette P. (Wes) Herrick, of King of Prussia, Frances R Kubick, of Williamsport, Barbara A. (Bart) Estabrook, of British Columbia, Canada, Lorraine M. Stopper, of Williamsport, Pauline M. (Lee) Stopper, of Schnecksville, H. Audrey (Dr. Gerald) Hoffman, of Rixeyville, Va., Cecelia J. (James) Frey of Montoursville; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy L. Gehret and Noni Stopper.

Over the years, Mary Jo was employed at Sears Credit Office, McNerney, Page and Vanderlin, Montour restaurant and English Model Railroad. For many years she also did volunteer work at the church kitchen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 100 Walnut Street, Montoursville, with her Rev. Michael McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, on Thursday, May 15 from 6 to 8 p.m.
