William E. “Billy” Kepner, Jr.
William E. “Billy” Kepner Jr., 75, of Dushore, died Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Rose View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Williamsport.
Born May 21, 1949, in Muncy, he was a son of the late William Sr. and Leona (Reed) Kepner.
Billy was a graduate of Hughesville High School, Class of 1967. Following his graduation, he was employed as a crop farmer on his grandparents’ farm in Moreland Township for several years. In 1967 he began working for Girton Manufacturing, Millville, and was employed there for three years. In 1970, Billy became interested in the lumber industry, and would go on to work for multiple companies, including Millville Lumber Products, Farr Brothers Lumber Co., Niles Lumber and Supply Co., and various other local companies as well. Later in life he obtained his CDL license and drove a tractor and trailer for the National Freight Company and retired from Pelton Trucking.
Giving back to his community was very important to Billy. He was previously an active member of the Millville Community Fire Company and the Forksville Fire Company where he served as secretary and treasurer for several years. He also served on the Forksville Borough Council for six years and was a member of the Sullivan County Fair Association.
An avid John Deere enthusiast, Billy enjoyed collecting, restoring and pulling two-cylinder John Deere tractors. He would often be found showcasing his tractors in local parades and at the Sullivan County Fair, where he would sit for hours talking with anyone who expressed an interest in his tractors. Billy was a man of faith and currently attended East Forks Community Church, New Albany.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter St., Dushore, with Pastor Ron Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Forksville Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millville Community Fire Co. or the Forksville Volunteer Fire Co.
