Eric S. “Rick” Sweitzer

Eric S. “Rick” Sweitzer, of Jersey Shore, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 10, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 28, 1947, in Jersey Shore, Rick lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family and passions.

Rick proudly served his country in the United States Army before embarking on a long and fulfilling career as a truck driver. He devoted 25 years to Lucas Trucking, from which he eventually retired. Prior to this, he was self-employed as a trucker and worked for P. Stone, where he met his beloved future wife, the former, Deborah McGill. Rick also spent time working with DSE, showcasing his commitment to his profession.

Beyond his professional life, Rick was an avid enthusiast of tractor pulling for many years and enjoyed hunting. He had a deep affection for his dogs and treasured the moments spent with Deb. Rick found joy in caring for his yard and was a passionate fan of NASCAR and drag racing. Known for his mechanical aptitude, he could often be found tinkering in the garage, where he demonstrated an extraordinary ability to fix anything.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Jane (Barclay) Sweitzer. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Sweitzer; stepdaughters, Pam (Mark) Repsher of Nicholson; and Rhonda Allen of Shavertown; grandchildren, Josh (Laura) Ross; Dakota and Ashli Quick; and Bentley and Joey Repsher. He also leaves behind his brother, Craig Sweitzer, and sister, Jeannine (Ray) Kozen, as well as a special nephew, Tim (Ann) Sweitzer, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
