Joan Marie Bennardi

Joan Marie Bennardi, affectionately known as Joni, passed away on June 4, 2024, at the age of 61. Born on September 23, 1962, at Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan, Joni was a beacon of creativity, kindness, and generosity throughout her life. Her sudden departure due to a pulmonary embolism in Tijuana, Mexico, has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Joni was preceded in death by her parents, John A. Bennardi and Judith R. Bennardi Bieber, her sister Deborah A. Bennardi, and her grandparents, Rudolph E. and Ann Bennardi, as well as Francis and Carmen Zimmerman.

She is survived by her devoted sister, Mary Ellen Bennardi of Pensacola, FL; her loving brother, Mark F. Bennardi (Lisa) of Williamsport, PA; her nieces, Corrie L. (Kyle) Richards of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Andrea M. Bennardi (John Morgan) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Christi A. Bennardi of Pittsburgh, PA; her nephew, Scott F. Bennardi of S. Williamsport; her uncle, Peter (Donna) Zimmerman of Montoursville, PA; and various loving cousins.

Joni’s educational journey in Computer Science at Penn College in Williamsport, PA, laid the foundation for her successful career. She dedicated 34 years of service as a mail handler with the United States Postal Service, working in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida. Her unwavering commitment and work ethic were set to culminate in a well-deserved retirement in September 2024. A devout Christian, Joni lived her faith through her actions, always extending a helping hand and a warm smile to those around her. Her interests reflected her love for life and adventure. An avid traveler, Joni found joy in exploring new destinations, whether it was on a cruise ship, camping under the stars, or cycling through scenic landscapes. Her passion for the outdoors was matched only by her love for animals, especially her beloved Boxer, Zoey, who was a constant companion and source of happiness. Joni’s creative spirit shone brightly, whether she was solving problems at work or enriching her personal life with various hobbies. Her kindness was felt by all, as she never hesitated to give her time, resources, and heart to those in need. Her generosity knew no bounds, often going above and beyond to ensure the comfort and well-being of others.

As we bid farewell to Joni, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she left on our lives. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and her legacy of love and service will endure. Joni’s life was a testament to the beauty of a soul that lived fully, loved deeply, and cared unconditionally. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will remain with us, always a guiding light in the lives of those she touched.
