Virginia H. Treat, age 83, passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness on July 21, 2025, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home. She was born March 14, 1942, in Elmira, NY, a daughter of James and Ruth Heck of Tioga, PA.
On July 14, 1962, Virginia married Thomas Treat, making their home in Tioga, PA and recently celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary.
A graduate of Williamson High School and Mansfield State College, Virginia spent her career as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher at R.B. Walter Elementary school, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed traveling, tending to the flower gardens around their home, spoiling the family dogs, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She especially looked forward to the retired teacher luncheons with her former co-workers and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her husband; sons, James (Kim) Treat of Sparta, GA, Edward (Susan) Treat of Cyclone, PA; grandchildren, Allyson (Nate) Bowen, TJ Treat (Nikki Belko), Katherine (Jared) Schwab, Emily Treat (Dakota Eaton); great-grandchildren, Avery, Maddox and Liam Bowen; a sister, Arlene Randall of Lakeland, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. There will be no funeral service. Burial will take place in Farmington Cemetery. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com.
