Ernest L. Schmouder, Jr
Ernest L. Schmouder, Jr., 72, of Trout Run, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at home with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Georgeann “Marie” Schmouder.
Born March 3, 1953, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Ernest L. Schmouder, Sr. and Magdaline (Entz) Butler.
Ernest was a 1971 graduate of Williamsport Area High School and went on to become a skilled carpenter. His love for building was evident in the homes and garages he expertly crafted. His work was not just a profession but a passion that he pursued with excellence and integrity.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ernest was known for his green thumb. His garden was a testament to his patience and care, producing an abundance of flowers and vegetables that he generously shared with friends and family. He was also a regular at the local fire hall, where he and other Trout Run residents would get together to share coffee and stories.
In addition to his wife, Ernest is survived by a son, Matthew Schmouder (Ashley); three grandchildren, Cole Schmouder, Ashlyn Ayers, and Jaidan Ayers; a great-grandson, Rylan Ayers; and a sister, Deborah (Russel) Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ernest’s name to Trout Run Volunteer Fire Company, 241 Rte. 14 Highway, Trout Run, PA 17771, or, plant milkweed in Ernest’s honor.
