Margaret “Peggy” Shearer

Margaret “Peggy” Shearer, 88, of Montoursville, died Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at her daughter’s home surrounded by family.

Born March 31, 1937, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late William and Ellen (Blair) Snell. She married her husband, the late Robert C. Shearer, on July 30, 1955, spending just shy of 60 years together until his passing in 2015. Peggy’s life revolved around her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She could often be found attending their many sporting events. She also adored her dogs Phoebe and Hannah. In addition to spending time with those she loved, Peggy enjoyed swimming and tending to her flower gardens. She was previously employed as a manager for Bottorf’s Naturalizer Shoes until her retirement in 1996 and also worked part-time at the Commonwealth Bank, Montoursville. She was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are four children, David (Pam) Shearer, Richard Shearer, Susan Shearer, all of Muncy, and Robin (Rick) Shearer-Pasco of Hughesville; and many grandchildren, many, many great-grandchildren, and lots of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Peggy was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Fantaskey, and a brother, William Snell.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
