Merlin W. Waltz

Merlin W. Waltz, 83, of Williamsport, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at UPMC of Williamsport.

Born January 24, 1942, he was the only child of the late Merlin and Hazel Waltz and was raised on the family farm. After graduating from Williamsport Area High School, he embraced the life of a farmer, and began tilling and nurturing the land passed down to him. Along with farming, he made a career at the former Avco, where he retired after many years of dedicated service. Merlin found joy not just in his work but also in his associations. Known as the “Waterman” to many, he filled swimming pools throughout the community for over four decades. His commitment to communal welfare was further exhibited through his longstanding membership with the Williamsport’s Fraternal Order of Eagles #970 and the Harmonia Club.

Surviving are his sons Tim, Merlin O., and Kevin Waltz; his daughters Brooke and Kristen Waltz; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, Merlin was also preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Waltz.

In keeping with Merlin’s wishes, there will be no services.
