Erma L. Hurlbutt

Erma L. Hurlbutt, 92, of Jersey Shore, gained her angel wings on October 7, 2025, at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on August 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Clauson-Clark) Smith. Erma was one of eight children and was predeceased by her seven siblings. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Hurlbutt.

Erma had many professions throughout her life and really enjoyed her hobbies including reading, puzzles, bead art, gardening, and ceramics. She was a tender soul who offered endless kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation, and gratitude.

She found her greatest joy being present with family and loved ones. Erma was born with the gift of conversation and loved nothing more than lending a tender ear and talking with family and friends. Many will remember her as the master of long good-byes.

Surviving are her beloved children, Mike (Jolene) Hurlbutt, John (Jenny) Hurlbutt, Laurie (William) Allison, and Glendie (Gary) Winkleman, as well as many other family members who will sadly miss her.

Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who were touched by her. Erma leaves behind cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Services celebrating the life of Erma will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Erma will be laid to rest privately next to her husband in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
