Horace D. “Hank” Bennett, III

Horace D. “Hank” Bennett, III, 78, of Williamsport, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn (Barr) Bennett.

Born September 4, 1947, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Horace D. Jr. and Carolyn R. (Barto) Bennett.

Hank was a 1965 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and went on to earn a bachelors degree in social work from Bloomsburg University. He had worked many years for the Williamsport Hospital, retiring in the safety and security department.

After retiring, Hank dedicated countless hours to volunteering for Meals on Wheels, ensuring those fed were always met with kindness and a smile. An avid collector of Lionel trains, Hank found joy in the intricate details of each train, and formed lasting friendships with his “train buddies,” sharing stories and exchanging knowledge on the subject. He enjoyed fishing and was the biggest fan of all the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies. It became a family tradition (or requirement) to love Philadelphia sports. Of course, Hank was never a bigger fan than when it came to cheering for his grandkids’ extracurricular activities.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Scott D. Bennett (Stephanie), and Andrew H. Bennett (Beth); six grandchildren, Anna Young, Haylee, Mylee, Harper, Micah, and Rhys Bennett; a sister, Karen Bloom (Dennis); his mother-in-law, Florence Barr; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor Hank’s life will be announced at a later date.

Memorial donations in Hank’s name may be made to Meals on Wheels, 2138 Lincoln St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements entrusted to Sanders Mortuary. Online condolences may be made on Hank’s memorial page at www.SandersMortuary.com.
