Joan M. Laychur

Joan M. Laychur, 89, formerly from Montoursville, died Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Wolf Run Village, Hughesville. Born May 20, 1936, in Wilkes Barre, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Mary (Sadowski) Ropers.

Joan married Lawrence M. Laychur on February 1, 1955, and shared 46 years of marriage prior to his passing on August 28, 2001.

Joan and her husband shared a wonderful life. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and playing bingo. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church who enjoyed the time she spent cooking meals with the ladies in the church kitchen. Joan was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Ladies Auxiliary President of the Montoursville Little League, member of the Montoursville Senior Citizens, and the Montoursville Garden Club.

Joan is survived by sons, Michael J. (Renee) Laychur, of Hughesville, Lawrence M. (Betty) Laychur, of Oviedo, FL, William T. (Tina) Laychur, of Warriors Mark, Gary P. (Jennifer) Laychur, of Jensen Beach, FL; daughter, Cynthia S. (David) Young, of Brunswick, OH; sisters, Carol Gorski, of Nanticoke, Bernice Wassel, of Phoenix, AZ, Judith Kocienski, of Las Vegas, NV, Debra Reddy, of Nanticoke, Donna John, of Sarasota, FL, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St. Montoursville, with Rev. Fr. Anthony Boothali officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 800 Mulberry St. Montoursville, 17754.
