John Candor Lundy

John Candor Lundy, age 83, passed away in Williamsport, PA on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. He was born in Williamsport on January 24, 1942 to John W. Lundy and Kathryn Candor Lundy. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda Dieffenbach Lundy; his three children from his first marriage to the late Margaret Keliher Lundy-Don M. Lundy, J. William (Bill) Lundy and wife Lidiya, and Elizabeth M. Lundy and husband Dr. Christopher Russo; five grandchildren-Jake Lundy Russo, Kathryn M. Lundy, Charles P. Lundy, Benjamin Lundy Russo and Margaret K. Lundy as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, first wife, and his brother, Steven C. Lundy.

John graduated from The Lawrenceville School in 1960 and from Babson College in 1965 with a B.S. in Business Administration, where he graduated third in his class. While there he was captain of the swim team and a member of the sailing team.

Upon his return home to Williamsport, John was involved in several businesses. As President of Lundy Homes, he developed The Greenbrier Townhomes and The Heights as well as many other notable projects. Additionally, he held executive positions at Lundy Lumber Co., Lundy Warehousing, Schrader Architectural Products, and Lundy Industrial Realty.

As an original Trustee of the Williamsport Hospital Foundation, John served as Chairman of the Susquehanna Health Foundation and as Chairman of its Investment Committee for 15 years. With his wife, Linda, he served as one of the chairs of its Project 2012 Capital Campaign. He served on the Board of The School of Hope and the merged Hope Enterprises and on the Board, Executive Committee, and Presidential Selection Committee of Lycoming College.

John was a steadfast supporter of the Williamsport community and was a dedicated and generous donor to many local organizations and charities including Preservation Williamsport, The Tabor Museum, Little League Baseball Inc, The Kathryn Candor Lundy Breast Health Center, UPMC Susquehanna, The Williamsport Symphony, and the Community Arts Center.

Throughout his life, John enjoyed swimming, playing golf and tennis, and attending Penn State Football games. He loved attending cultural events including concerts and various performances and was devoted to his numerous Black Labrador Retrievers.

He loved traveling around the world with friends and family. John and Linda especially enjoyed taking the grandchildren on “Mystery Trips”. During the winter months he loved his time on Longboat Key, Florida, and during the summers his days at Keuka Lake, NY and Eagles Mere, PA, where he was past-president of the Eagles Mere Association. As a founding member of the Eagles Mere Foundation, John served many years as its President and Treasurer. His firm built the DeWire Center and numerous cottages.

Throughout his life, he belonged to various clubs including the Ross Club, the Williamsport Country Club, the Lakeside Country Club, the Eagles Mere Country Club, the Longboat Key Club, and the Sarasota Yacht Club.

John’s unique personality, fun-loving sense of humor, generosity, love for family and friends and his ability to connect with so many will never be forgotten.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of a Life Well-Lived will be held at the Peter Herdic House on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 5PM to 8PM.
