John (Jack) J. Gallo, Jr.

John (Jack) J. Gallo, Jr., 77, of Montoursville, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport.
Born April 17, 1948, in Hazleton, he was the son of John J. Sr. and Mary (Yackanich) Gallo.
John attended MMI Preparatory School in Freeland and graduated in 1966. From 1968 to 1972, he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant. In 1969, he conducted reconnaissance missions flying unmanned aircraft during the Vietnam War and earned the Airman of the Month Award in November of that year. Upon his return home, he continued his education at Williamsport Area Community College, now Pennsylvania College of Technology, and graduated with an Associate of Science in business administration. Upon his graduation, he married the former Barbara Skitski in September of 1973. He then attended Wilkes College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in commerce and finance and a Master of Business Administration in marketing and labor relations.
John began his career working for First Eastern Bank in Wilkes-Barre as a trust administrative officer in 1973. Throughout his career, he worked for many banks and trust & investment companies, retiring from the wealth management division of BB&T in 2016. Outside of his work, John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He often attended their sporting and school events. John truly loved cars and traded in his vehicle for a new one any chance he had. He enjoyed 96 cars over his lifetime. He was also an avid theatergoer and TV Land-watcher.
John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; three sons, Matthew of Charlotte, NC, Jonathan (Megan) of Lancaster, Nicholas (Jeannie) of Tampa, FL; a daughter, Christina of Montoursville; and two grandchildren, Dominic and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Sr. and Mary Gallo.
Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday October 20, 2025, at Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, with Reverend Sean Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Church of the Resurrection in Muncy, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Montoursville, or Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Beaver Meadows.
