Lawrence R. Richards

Lawrence R. Richards, 79, of Williamsport, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at Edenbrook North. Born December 29, 1945, in Williamsport, he was a son of Leonard and Ruth (Hilliard) Richards.

Larry was known for his dry wit and independent spirit. He had a knack for making people laugh (usually with a joke that caught you off guard) and a deep appreciation for the things he loved: daily Bible study with Pastor Arnold Murray of Shepherd’s Chapel, Penn State football, watching John Wayne movies, and having coffee with his friends.

A Williamsport native, he served in the military before marrying and graduating from Lycoming College with a degree in Fine Arts. Larry later retired as a prison guard from SCI Muncy. He was a loving father and grandfather; his family meant a great deal to him.

Lawrence is survived by sons, David L. Richards, of Montoursville, Eli A. (Megan) Richards, of Sykesville, MD; granddaughters, Dylana Q., Molly W., Piper A. Richards; sisters, Linda Bomboy, of Williamsport, Joan Staccone, Lois Yoder, both of Muncy, and close friend, Linda C. Richards.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Linser, and brother, Bernard Richards.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 24, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street Montoursville. Burial will follow at Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
