Randy S. Carey

Randy S. Carey, 63, of Montoursville passed surrounded by family after an 8-year courageous battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). Born on March 23, 1962, he was the son of Grace (Sechler) and Richard Carey, Sr. of Montoursville.

Randy graduated from Montoursville High School in 1981. He started his career as a meat cutter at Weis Markets where he met his wife Tammy of 43 years. He then moved to Elizabethtown and worked at Groff’s Meats, ending his career at Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he retired due to PSP. Randy was a local deer processor for years and served on the Planning Commission for Fairfield Twp.

Randy enjoyed anything outdoors, hunting, fishing, lawn mowing, and was a handyman that could fix anything. Most of all he enjoyed his 5 grandchildren and loved his family.

Surviving is his wife, Tammy (Day) Carey; parents; son, Randy (Keri) Carey, of Montoursville and their son’s Garrison and Sawyer. Daughter, Katiera (Gary) Nettles, of State College and their children, Azalea, Tibian, and Huxley. Brother, Rick (Kathy) Carey of Montgomery, sister, Renee Carey of Montoursville as well as nieces and nephews.

A big thank you to UPMC Hospice, Lisa, Amber, assistant care giver Ezmi, and all who went above and beyond to help with Randy’s care.

In keeping with Randy’s wishes, a private graveside service was held on Thursday at Twin Hills Memorial Park.

The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to North Central Pennsylvania Conservancy, P.O. Box 2083 Williamsport, PA 17701.
