William Meirl “Bill” Weigle

William Meirl “Bill” Weigle, 79, of Linden, passed away tragically at his home on October 2, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bill leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and deep devotion to his family and faith.
Born on July 9, 1946, in Williamsport, Bill was the son of the late Meirl and Lois (Barrett) Weigle. He was a proud graduate of Williamsport Area High School, class of 1964, where he met the love of his life, Sharon A. (Michaels) Weigle. The two married soon after and would have celebrated 62 years of marriage November 16–a lifelong bond marked by unwavering love, faith, and partnership.
Bill began his career working for Avco before pursuing his dream of becoming his own boss. He purchased his own semi-truck and eventually founded Weigle Trucking, a business built with grit, passion, and pride. What started with one truck soon grew into a fleet–each rig a reflection of Bill himself: bold, bright, polished, and unmistakably unique.
His trucks, adorned with LED lights, chrome stacks, vibrant paint, and hand-painted logos, were his pride and joy. He made sure they were spotless every weekend, gleaming on the highway like rolling works of art. Bill had been behind the wheel since 1968 and never lost his love for the open road.
When he wasn’t trucking, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of country living. He was meticulous about maintaining his property, cutting the grass on his John Deere with carefully planned patterns–his fields as clean and crisp as his trucks. Alongside his passion for big rigs, Bill shared a love for fast cars with his son, especially his Camaro, Corvettes, and a beautifully restored 1972 GMC pickup once belonging to his father.
He and Sharon were active members of their community and several organizations including The Patriots, The Corvette Club, The Sons of Italy in Williamsport and Lock Haven, and were devoted fans of the Williamsport Crosscutters. Their shared faith was central to their lives, and they were long-time members of Oak Grove Alliance Church until its closure.
Above all, Bill had a heart for giving. Whether it was helping a friend, supporting a stranger, donating to his church, or lifting up those in need, Bill gave without expecting anything in return. His generosity touched countless lives.
A true Eagles fan and lover of 1970s rock and roll, Bill also enjoyed time in the kitchen with Sharon, whipping up family favorites like meatballs and sauce, ham pot-pie, baked beans, Spanish rice, and fruit salad. He cherished their trips to their Florida vacation home and Friday or Saturday night dinners at their favorite spots. But nothing brought Bill more joy than being “Sweetie” to Sharon, and a devoted dad and grandpa to his beloved family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Sharon, are his two daughters, Shelly Budinger (Lance), of Lock Haven, and Pamela Tabatabai (Carmen Ferrara), of Woolrich; his sister, Doris Bates, of Williamsport; grandchildren Ethan Hershey (Miranda), of South Williamsport; Riche Forsha (Colin), of Williamsport; Elijah Tabatabai (Joslyn Savage), of Woolrich; and grandchildren, Kolin Weigle and Colton Weigle, both of Williamsport; as well as many nieces, nephews, and one great-grandson on the way.
He was preceded in death by his cherished son, William “Billy” Weigle. Bill’s family finds peace in knowing that he and Billy are now reunited in Heaven.
Bill Weigle will be remembered as a man of grit, heart, humor, and unwavering love. His light–like the shine of his trucks–will never fade.
A funeral service to honor the life of Bill will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 10 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1730 Four Mile Dr. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9 – 10:30 a.m. on Friday at church.
