Beverly Arlene Bower

Beverly Arlene Bower went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025. She was a resident of Homewood Living, Martinsburg.

She was born November 16, 1933 to Bertrem W. and Kathryn E. (Heffner) Buss.

She married Richard E. “Dick” Bower on May 1, 1954 in Berryville, Va. He preceded her in death in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her youngest son, Todd R. Bower, who passed away in 1979 at age 20.

Surviving are two sons, Richard (Linda) of Antis Township and Eric (Karen) of Mayfield Village, Ohio; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Scott) Weigner, Benjamin (Cherie) Bower, Rachel (Tom) Bonser, Elise (Jacob) Belk and Andrew Bower; and 12 great-grandchildren, Noah, Micah, Clara, Sage, Mayah, Mason, Bryar, Finn, Fiona, Maisie, Fletcher and Graham.

Beverly graduated from Montgomery-Clinton High School in 1950. She attended Lock Haven State Teachers College where she was a member of Pi Kappa Sigma Sorority, Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society, the Student Christian Association, and the English Club. She graduated in 1954.

She began her teaching career at White Hall School in Washington Township, teaching grades 7 and 8. She later joined the Montgomery Area School District, where she taught grades 7, 8 and 9 as a reading specialist. Beverly retired after 35 years of dedicated service.

In the mid 1960’s, Beverly co-owned the Country Corners Drive-In Snack and Dairy Bar in Halls Station. She was a member of Felicitas Chapter 500 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Beverly was active in her faith community-she taught Sunday school and served on church council at Christ Lutheran Church in Montgomery, later becoming church secretary at Grace Lutheran Church in Bellwood. She was a proud member of Bellwood Community Choir.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm, Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sinking Valley. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Friday, Nov. 7, 2025 at Fairview Cemetery, Montgomery.
