Dorothy Mae Howell

Dorothy Mae Howell, 90, of Muncy, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.

Born March 5, 1935, in Montoursville, she was a daughter of the late Hamptom and Stella (McCaslin) Hall.

She and her husband, John, shared a wonderful 72 years together in February. She cherished her grandsons and was very proud of the young men they have become. Outside of her family, she had many hobbies and volunteered her time to help the Shriners Club. She loved animals, being outdoors, and watching the wildlife in their natural habitat. She would help her husband maintain the house and land they lived on for over 50 years. Dorothy’s true hobby was painting all of the scenery she experienced, they were breathtaking for all to see. Dorothy had a strong episcopal faith and practiced her faith at the Church of our Savior in Montoursville before its closing.

She is survived by her husband, John Howell, of Muncy; a daughter, Barbara (James) Powell, of Montoursville; two grandsons, Jordan and Logan Powell, both of Montoursville; a sister, Arlene Klepper, of Montoursville; and two brothers, Ronald and Dale Hall, both of Montoursville.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Twin Hills Memorial Park, 3332 Lycoming Mall Dr. Muncy, with Chaplain Thomas Brokaw officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions are made in Dorothy’s name and sent to your animal shelter of choice.
