Frances Spring, 99, of Muncy, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at home with her loving husband by her side. Born November 18, 1925, in Hughesville, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Laura (Michael) Dugan. She married her husband, Dean Spring of Muncy, on April 5, 1952, and shared a beautiful marriage together.
A 1943 graduate of Muncy High School, Frances went on to East Stroudsburg University where she received a B.S in education. She began her career working at East Stroudsburg Jr High School in 1947. From there, she began her journey working for East Lycoming School District, remaining dedicated to each group of students she had for over 23 years. She retired in 1977. She was a member of PSEAR Pennsylvania State Education Association -Retired as well as a chaplain for the East Lycoming Farm Heritage Association.
Faith was also a large part of Frances’ life. She was a loyal member of Messiah Lutheran Church (Clarkstown) where she once held role as council president.
In her free time, Frances enjoyed quilting and creating beautiful works that were treasured by family and friends. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from time spent with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband of over 70 years, Dean, is a son, Rodney (Karen) Spring of Muncy; a daughter-in-law, Nanci Spring; three grandchildren, Adrienne (Colton) Myers, James (Katy) Spring, and Andrew (Nicole) Spring; six great-grandchildren, Owen, Leo, Benjamin, Briella, Austin, and Chloe; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Frances was also preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Gregory Spring; three brothers, Byron, Milford, and Alan Dugan; and three sisters, Mary Funk, Helen March, and Janet Confer.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2041 PA-442, Muncy, PA, 17756 with Pastor James L. Girven officiating.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Son Light House, 130 Carpenter Street, Muncy, PA.
