Grace J. Lore

Grace J. Lore, of Muncy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving children. Born July 29, 1935, in Unityville, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Kitzmiller) Ryder. She married her husband, Stanley “Pete” Lore on February 23, 1957, and spent over 66 happy years together until his passing on May 18, 2023. They are now finally together again.

Grace was a graduate of Hughesville High School and later went on to graduate from Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. Over the years, she worked as a registered nurse for Muncy Valley Hospital, the State Correctional Institution, Muncy, and for Dr. I.G. Kim, of Hughesville. She also worked as a substitute school nurse in the East Lycoming School District and Sylvania. Grace was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who led her life with faith. She was a member of Picture Rocks Baptist Church and previously taught Sunday School at Bethany United Methodist Church. She greatly enjoyed bible study with the ladies of her family, which remained active up to her passing. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society and a previous Girl Scout Leader for many years.

Surviving are three children, Peter (Diane) Lore of Plain City, OH, Leigh (Gerald) Houseknecht of Muncy, and Marcia (Donald) Smith of Muncy; a brother, Thomas (Chistina) Ryder of Venice, FL; 9 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by a grandchild, Marc Houseknecht, a great-granddaughter Emma Fogleman, and a brother, Richard Ryder.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Picture Rocks Baptist Church, 50 Elm St., Picture Rocks, with Pastor Jerry L. Uppling officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the cancer center at UPMC Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Blvd, Williamsport, PA, 17701 or the Picture Rocks Baptist Church, at the address above.
