Helen L. Shaffer
Helen L. Shaffer, 95, of Williamsport, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the Williamsport Home.
She was the beloved wife of the late James W. Shaffer with whom she shared 57 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2008.
Born in Irvona, Clearfield County, Helen was the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Lindsey) Termin.
At the age of 18, Helen began working for Susquehanna Trailways and for the next 64 years, she managed transportation services, bookings and trips while getting the unique opportunity to travel.
She was a strong and independent woman with a spirit and style all her own who flourished in the company of others and delighted in opening her home to family and friends.
Most weekends were spent at their family cabin on Pine Creek where she hosted both Shaffer and Termin family reunions.
Mrs. Shaffer is survived by her daughter, Grace Dibert (Michael); granddaughters, Wendy Chetcuti and Jodi Fisher (John); grandsons, Zach Shaffer (Beth) and Nathan Shaffer; great granddaughters, Ashley Casto (Luke), Madison Fisher, Mariah Suazo (Andy), Makensie Booze (Noah) and Kaleigh Shaffer; great grandson, Christopher Gallagher; great-great granddaughters, Kinlee Casto, Everly Casto, and Isla Jo Suazo; and daughter-in-law, Sherree Shaffer.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mike Shaffer and siblings, William Termin, Phoebe O’Shell, Jonas Termin, Betty Ostrander, and Chet Termin.
A funeral service to honor the life of Helen will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 28, 2025 with a visitation from 11 am to 12 noon at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to everyone who helped care for Helen throughout her later years, specifically the private caregivers and the 400 Hallway staff at the Williamsport Home.
