Keith Origene Barrows

Keith Origene Barrows, of Jersey Shore, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Nov. 15 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Rutland, Vermont on January 10, 1968, the son of Jon Ira Barrows and Gailia Rutan Annaldo. Keith was a graduate of North Kingstown High School, Rhode Island, class of 1986. He was involved in the local Boy Scouts and ROTC.

After high school, Keith attended Lycoming College. He studied Music Education and Political Science. He gave a Junior and Senior Voice Recital and sang in the Lycoming College Choirs.

On May 25, 1991, Keith married Carol Thompson. They celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary last May. One of their favorite memories together is singing in the Lycoming College Tour Choir under the direction of his mentor, Fred Thayer.

After graduating college, Keith went to study law at Widener University. After passing the bar exam, he joined the army. His army career moved his family from Harrisburg to Louisiana and then to Virginia! He was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. After his army career, he and Carol settled back down in Jersey Shore in 1998.

Keith then worked as an Attorney and a Planned Giving Director for various organizations. His work took him on many international trips, which he enjoyed very much! Eventually, he went on to get his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University in 2015.

Keith was a longstanding member of the Salladasburg United Methodist Church where he was the Chair of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and the Financial Chairperson for many years. He also served as the Adult Sunday School class teacher and had a servant’s heart for whatever was needed in the church.

Keith loved spending time at the Ranch and the Shanty family cabins and especially loved fishing. In April 2024, he caught a huge rainbow trout at the Ranch in Little Pine Creek, which completed his set of trophy fish.

He was always challenging himself with new endeavors, the biggest of which was completing the Philadelphia Marathon in 2006. He also completed a local sprint triathlon in 2011.

Keith was dedicated to teaching others about the Word of God. He mentored an international pastor and helped to raise money for their ministry and school. For a long time, he taught them via Zoom every Saturday morning at 6 AM!

Keith is survived by his wife, Carol, his children Susan Barrows Phillips (Dylan), of Lancaster County, Victoria Annette Barrows Auzenne (Daniel), of Chicago, IL, and Rebecca Carol Giovannacci (David), of Loudoun County, VA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Charlotte Eve Phillips, Violet Grace Phillips, Andrea Hope Phillips, David Henry Giovannacci, Kate Grace Auzenne, Luke Allen Phillips, William Clair Giovannacci, and Josiah Judah Auzenne.

He is survived by his three sisters, Theresa LaCasse (Roland), Kathy Lepore, and Tina Cole; his step-sister, Darla Frey; his mother, Gailia Rutan Annaldo, and his step-mother, Pat Barrows. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Cohick Thompson; sister-in-law, Ronna Thompson (Don Faulkner); brother-in-law, Denny Thompson (Robin), and many nieces and nephews. Finally, he is survived by his best friend, the Honorable P. Kevin Brobson, Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, who Keith thought of as a brother.

He was predeceased by his father, Jon Ira Barrows, and his father-in-law, Ronald Lee Thompson.

Keith battled a rare form of Multiple Myeloma. He battled courageously and never gave up, even in the very end. We would like to thank the team at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center, specifically Dr. Edward Staudtmauer, and the team at Williamsport’s Hillman Cancer Center, specifically Dr. Abdalla Sholi.

A memorial service for Keith will be held at the Salladasburg United Methodist Church, 310 Main Street, Salladasburg, on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025 at 10 a.m. Family friend, Pastor Rich Colvin, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Salladasburg Cemetery with the local honor guard. A luncheon meal will follow the memorial service at the Salladasburg United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the international Pastor that Keith mentored for many years. Keith raised money each month to support the Pastor’s ministry and school and was concerned about its future. His family would like to continue what Keith started by supporting this mission work. Please send contributions to Carol Barrows or contact her directly.
