Rev. Robert E. Hamm, SJ

Rev. Robert E. Hamm, SJ, 88, died on 25 October 2025 at Manresa Hall in Merion Station, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest V. and Mary L. (Dincher) Hamm, and his sister, Mary Guyette. He is survived by his brother, Thomas (Mary Ann) Hamm, beloved nieces and nephews, and his Jesuit brothers.

Father Hamm, a native of Williamsport, PA, entered the Society of Jesus in 1955 and was ordained a priest in 1968. He taught at Saint Joseph’s Prep and at Loyola Blakefield in Baltimore. Between those assignments, he served as assistant director and later director of the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth in Wernersville, PA. Following that, he was missioned to the Jesuit Centre in Benin City, Nigeria, where he served as a retreat director. Upon returning to Baltimore, Father worked in pastoral ministry at Saint Ignatius Church and at the St. Claude La Colombiere Jesuit Community.

Funeral services will be held privately at Manresa Hall, with burial to follow at the Jesuit Cemetery in Wernersville, PA.
