Daniel W. “Dan” Heckert, Jr.

Daniel W. “Dan” Heckert, Jr., 71, of Williamsport, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 12, 2025, at his home.

Born in Williamsport on May 11, 1954, he was a son to the late Daniel W. Heckert, Sr., and Marguerite (Weaver) Heckert. Dan grew up with a strong sense of dedication and an admirable work ethic. Prior to his graduation from Williamsport Area High School in 1972, Dan’s foundation of integrity and reliability was solidified early on. His formative years spent in the West, between Texas and New Mexico, equipped him with skills that served him well throughout his life, as he helped on ranches and approached each task with vigor. As an almost Eagle Scout, missing only one merit badge, his commitment to the principles of the Boy Scouts was evident in every facet of his life.

After many years in manufacturing, Dan retired in 2010, leaving behind not only a legacy of hard work but also of mentorship and camaraderie among his colleagues.

Dan’s passion for nature was undisguised. An avid outdoorsman, he particularly loved hunting and shared many memorable expeditions at the cabin with his father and best friends.

Dan is survived by the love of his life, Gale L. (Miller) Heckert, his best friend and wife of 46 years, his daughter, Kelly Brininger (Jeremy), and son, Daniel W. Heckert, III (Joy). His pride and joy continued to blossom through six beloved grandchildren: Brant, Aiden, Alivia, Zoe, Ella, and Daniel IV. He is also survived by his brother, Russell Heckert.

Along with his parents Dan was also preceded in death by his brother, John Heckert.

Throughout his journey, Dan demonstrated what it means to live a full and honorable life. He will be remembered for his boundless love for his family, his tireless work ethic, the impact of his voluntary service, and the warmth of his companionship.

In keeping with Dan’s wishes, there will be no services.
