Dermot Thomas McDonnell

Dermot Thomas McDonnell, 66, of Williamsport passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Born on September 20, 1959 in San Antonio, TX, he was a son of Gertrude R. (Byrne) McDonnell of Williamsport and the late Jack McDonnell.

He was employed for 30 years with Thermacore where he held various positions.

Derm was an avid hunter, and outdoorsman. He loved to shoot pool and golf. He would hunt for buck, turkey, and in his younger years, rabbits with his friends and champion purebred beagle, Stubby.

He was known for his humor, warmth, and gift for storytelling. Proud of his Newberry roots, he could often be found walking its neighborhood, reconnecting with friends, and sharing laughter through tales of his childhood adventures.

He valued his friendships and enjoyed keeping in touch, most recently through Facebook. He was deeply loved by his family, whom he adored, and shared a special bond with his mother.

Although he preferred spending time outdoors, he also enjoyed relaxing with an episode of Cheers or watching sports, like Cowboys or Notre Dame games.

In addition to his mother, Dermot is survived by his daughters, Carson R. McDonnell of Williamsport and Katelyn M. Lenhart of Tyler, TX; granddaughter, Morgan Lenhart; siblings, Marian Knapp of Trout Run, Jack McDonnell of Williamsport, Geraldine Johnson (Maurice) of Carlisle, Patricia Schick (Donald) Muncy, Brendan McDonnell of Camp Hill, and Eveleen Parker (Michael) of Williamsport; cousin Rosemary Dynan (Gerry) numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives in Ireland.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kevin McDonnell, and brother-in-law, Michael Knapp.

Services to honor the life of Derm will be announced at a later date.
