Mary D. Takach

Mary D. Takach, 101, a long time resident of Roosevelt Ave. in Williamsport passed away, Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Gatehouse.

Born July 31, 1924 in Conemaugh, PA she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Yadinac) Koban.

Mary worked at Sylvania for many years. In her free time, she found joy in word search puzzles, took great pride in keeping a tidy home, and loved to travel, especially cherishing trips to Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, the Caribbean, and throughout Europe. Mary was a wonderful cook, famous among family and friends for her delicious stuffed cabbage and her incomparable homemade applesauce. Above all else, Mary’s greatest joy was her family; she treasured her role as a Mother, Gram, and Grandma, pouring endless love into her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Surviving are two children, Thomas Takach (Janice Dreher) of Williamsport and Michael Takach (Sally) of Trout Run; five grandchildren, Thomas, Steve (Kristin), Tanya (Lenny), Heather (Denver) and Michael (Stacia); five great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Steven Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Thomas S. Takach on July 24, 1996, their daughter, Julianne Alexander on May 16, 2016 and 12 siblings.

A funeral service to honor Mary’s life will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 3, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Muncy. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Sanders.
