Rae Ann Bongiovi

Rae Ann Bongiovi, 82, a longtime resident of Williamsport, Pa., passed away peacefully at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle on December 29, 2025.

Born May 6, 1943, in Sodus Point, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John B. Caldwell, Jr., and Lucille (Balch) DeNeering.

A 1961 graduate of Williamsport Area High School and a student at the University of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Bongiovi worked on several campuses throughout her family’s many moves, including Williamsport Area Community College and Penn State University. She retired in 2007 from Horizon Blue Cross (NJ) before relocating to Williamsport.

Mrs. Bongiovi was a member of the New Covenant United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir and worked part-time in the church office. She loved to crochet blankets and scarves for her grandchildren as well as Journey House. She loved going out to eat with friends and family.

Mrs. Bongiovi is survived by her three children: Cathy Bongiovi of Levittown; Jolene Cramm (Randy) of Walnut Bottom; and Joseph A. Bongiovi (Denise) of Chesterfield, NJ.; her son in-law Anthony Amati (Jennifer) of Levittown; five grandsons, Allen Cramm, Noah Cramm, Anthony J. Amati, Sebastian Bongiovi, and Benjamin Bongiovi; four granddaughters, Angela (Cramm) Smyser, Taylor Cramm, Caitlyn Bongiovi, and Madelyn Bongiovi; and three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Elijah, and Franklin; her brother John B. Caldwell III of Ellendale, Del.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bongiovi is preceded in death by her daughter Diane Amati.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Bongiovi will be held 11 a.m., Monday, January 5, at New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third Street, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at church.
