Susan Yeager Story, 85, of Muncy, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport.
Born July 6, 1940, in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Eliza (Curtin) Yeager. Susan graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1958 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Art Education. She taught art in the Loyalsock Township Jr and Sr High School. After she left teaching, she worked at James V. Brown library. In 1981 she began working at Tory Leather Company where she was able to use her love of art and horses and retired after 35 years at the age of 76.
She and her husband, Phillip, shared a wonderful life before his passing in March of 2025. They were long time members of the St. James Lutheran "White Church", located outside of Muncy. Her time outdoors was spent at their homestead where they lived and cared for many animals. She and her husband tended to their horses and shared their love of horses with their children and grandchildren. In her early days, one could find Susan showing horses, training them, and giving riding lessons. She belonged to the Williamsport Riding Club for many years. She always found time to spend with the grandchildren whether that was attending sporting and 4H events or helping with art projects. As a devoted, hardworking, conscientious individual, she was a positive role model for her family and friends. She loved well and was well-loved by all.
She is survived by four children, Julie (Kimberly Emery) Story, of Montoursville, Craig (Nikki) Story, of Montoursville, Tammy (Mike) Wilk, of Muncy, and Heather (Brian) McCormick, of Muncy; seven grandchildren, Mary Story, Mason (Natalie) Story, Jordan Emely, Phillip McCormick, Emma McCormick, Jackson Wilk, and Cooper Wilk; a great-grandchild, Samson Story; a sister, Kate Gauche, of Bellefonte; and her beloved dog, Ruby. Also surviving, are special nieces, Jennifer, Anne, Liza, and nephew Clay and many cousins and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Phillip Story; a son, Phillip Story; and a sister, Molly Blakeslee.
Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025, at St. James Lutheran "White Church", 1679 Lycoming Mall Road, Muncy, with Rev. Beverly D. Cotner officiating.
