Carol Jean Mitstifer

Carol Jean Mitstifer, age 78, of Liberty, PA, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 at UPMC Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. She was born on December 19, 1947 in Blossburg, PA, a daughter of John and Alice (Stempeck) Boinski. Carol was married to Dayton Wayne Mitstifer. She was employed for Wundies Undies for 22 years and worked as a transcriptionist at Williamsport Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. Carol was a member of Christian Church in Cogan Station, PA. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, crocheting Afghans, reading books, making cookies, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her husband; a son, Michael (Debrah) Mitstifer; two daughters, Karen Arrington of Liberty, PA, and Paula (Harold “Buster”) Phillips of Morris, PA; four grandchildren, Dayton (Terry) Root, Perry Arrington, Dale (Shelby) Phillips, and Luke Phillips; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Bobbie Boinski; and a sister, Joan Page of FL. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from Noon to 1 p.m. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Steppe officiating. Burial will take place in Friedens Lutheran Cemetery in Liberty, PA.
