Dennis James Morse
Dennis James Morse, 69, of Warrensville Pa, went home to his Father in Heaven on Tuesday January 6th at 6pm surrounded in love by his family and friends.
Dennis was born on June 20th 1956 in Williamsport, a son of Edna J. (Confer) Morse and the late Frank L. Morse. He graduated from Williamsport Area High School, class of 1974, and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. During his time in the military, he was stationed in multiple countries including England, Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, Denmark, Norway, and in his home country, Kentucky and Virginia. He served in the Vietnam War as Staff Sergeant E6 and had the honor of escorting multiple presidents and ambassadors. Also, among his career highlights included standing 24-hour guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. After his retirement from the Army; Dennis re-enlisted in the Army National Guard and went to work for Rockview State Prison as a corrections officer for 22 years. During his time as a CO he guarded in part of the Camp Hill prison Riot of 1989. In total, Dennis served his country from 1974-2006.
Upon his official retirement, Dennis found immense joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, occasional fishing and tending to farm animals. He loved horses and dogs, including his labradoodle, Drake. He was an avid lover of NASCAR and could be found on any given Sunday at his NASCAR booth in Silver Moon Flea Market. He also enjoyed watching the race at home, and occasionally watched the Kentucky Derby. Nothing filled Dennis with more joy than time with his family. He had a big heart with lots of love to share, and he always smiled the biggest when surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 38 years Lori (Mosteller) Morse; three children, Candi M. Moraski (John), Matthew P. Morse, and Brian C. Morse (Karyn); six grandchildren, Sean Day, Zig Moraski, Oskar Moraski, Isaiah Morse (McKinley), Colt Morse, and Paisley Morse; one great granddaughter; Freyja Morse. Along with his mother Edna J. Morse, Dennis also leaves behind to cherish his memory two brothers Frank Morse (Pam) and Ray Morse, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Along with his father, Dennis is also preceded in death by his sister, Jane Morse.
Funeral services to honor Dennis’ life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. A viewing will be held prior from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
