E. Marie Patchen

E. Marie Patchen, of Williamsport, passed away on January 15, 2026 at The Williamsport Home.

Born on January 23, 1928 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of John A. and Elsie N. (Rucker) Jones.

Marie was a graduate of Williamsport High School in 1945. She devoted the majority of her life to being a loving wife and mother. Marie married the love of her life, Dr. John C. Patchen, on November 14, 1947. They shared 64 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on April 10, 2011. She was active in the Church of the Savior, where she taught Sunday School classes. She generously volunteered her time with North Central Sight Services as a radio reader. She was also active in the Lioness Club and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Marie was a 60-year cancer survivor, facing life’s challenges with quiet strength, resilience and an unwavering spirit. She enjoyed card club, traveling, crafts, staying fit through exercise, and was an avid reader. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family and took great joy in her role as Grammy Patchen.

Surviving are four children, Bonnie Fierro (Patrick) of Rochester, New York, Linda Barone (John), of Montoursville, Jackie Taylor, of Watsontown, and Robert Patchen (Nancy), of Williamsport; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Fierro Ill, Adrianna Fierro (Bob), Jessica Barone (Jacquelyn), Khiara Barone, Chad Biichle (Lanessa), Shannon Sluga (Justin), Shane Biichle (Crystal), Nicole Banks, Joshua Ibbs (Alexis), Jillian Yevics (Nicholas), Gage Patchen (Ashley), Cale Patchen (Sara); 21 great grandchildren; and a great-great child.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, John A. Barone Il, and her siblings E. Louise, Thomas and Stan Harris.

A funeral service to honor Marie’s life will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 1:30 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 12:30 until the time of service Monday at Sanders.
