Florence J. Hills
Florence J. Hills, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend to all, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 102, at UPMC of Williamsport.
Born on January 18, 1923, in Hazelton, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Englert) Weithas. An alumna of St. Joseph High School, Florence proudly graduated with honors in penmanship, a valuable skill at that time. Her career path led her to work at Avco Lycoming, and later, she retired from the Lycoming County Courthouse. Retirement did not mean idleness for Florence; she continued to work part-time at K-Mart and pursued her entrepreneurial spirit by selling Avon products in her spare time.
Florence had a vibrant social life, embracing her love of dancing and playing cards. Her affinity for animals, especially cats, showcased her compassionate and caring nature. Family gatherings were special occasions where stories, laughter, and love were shared freely, cementing the close-knit fabric of her family.
Florence is survived by her devoted children, Patricia A. Mitchell-Yerger (John), Albert F. Hills, Pamela M. Farr (William), Dianna M. Linn (deceased), and Jeffery L. Hills (Michelle). Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom she knew well, and also many extended family.
Along with her parents and daughter, Florence was preceded in death by her siblings, Fredrick, Marguerite “Peggy,” Genevieve “Jenny,” Rita, and her twin sister, Elsie.
In keeping with Florence’s wishes, there will be no services.
