Lucas Alexander Smithgall, 19, of Jersey Shore, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Born April 19, 2006, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Lucas was the loving son of Joshua and Amanda (Smith) Smithgall.
Lucas attended Cedar Bluff Middle School through 7th grade until he and his family moved to Jersey Shore to be closer to family. He graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 2024. Lucas was currently employed as a co-head teacher at Crossroads Child Learning Center. Lucas always had a huge heart and a passion for children, expressing his fun and caring nature.
He was a member of Liberty Church and often volunteered his time at the Fresh Express Food Pantry for Newberry Church of Christ.
Lucas was a devoted big brother to Carter, who affectionately called him “Bubba.” He enjoyed target shooting, playing video games, building Legos, lifting weights, and playing tennis. He could often be found tending to his family’s goats and cows on their mini farm.
Lucas’s memory will be cherished forever by his parents, Joshua and Amanda Smithgall of Jersey Shore; his beloved little brother, Carter; his paternal grandparents, James and Janet Smithgall of Williamsport; his maternal grandparents, Dewaine and Cheryl Smith, of Roper, NC; his aunts and uncles; Jenna (Bradley) Pepperman, of Linden, Jessica (Shane) DiBartolomeo, of Williamsport, Chris (Nancy) Smith, of Columbia, NC, and Jaron Smithgall, of Williamsport; his great-grandmothers, Frannie Burrus, of Sevierville, TN, and Barbara Knauff, of Rockholds, KY; as well as several cousins and extended family members who lovingly adored him.
A celebration of Lucas’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Newberry Christian Center, 2100 Linn St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
