Marcia W. Stout passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 27th at UPMC Hospital in Williamsport PA.

Marcia was born in 1946 in Troy, PA, and spent her childhood in Mansfield, PA. She often shared stories with her family about marching in parades while twirling a baton, climbing trees, and spending long afternoons reading–sometimes avoiding her chores until the very last minute before her parents returned home. She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1964 and entered the Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing in 1967.

Marcia was a compassionate and dedicated registered nurse throughout her entire career, which spanned over many years. She began her work at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, then at Martha Lloyd Community Services in Troy, PA, ultimately spending many years at Jersey Shore Hospital. During her time in the Same Day Surgery Unit at Jersey Shore, she formed lifelong friendships with coworkers Joanie and Lynn, among many others.

She is survived by her husband, Ron. They married in 1968 and shared 58 years of marriage. They eventually put down roots in Jersey Shore, PA, in 1980. Marcia and Ron have two daughters, Amy Stout Carr and her husband, Todd Carr, of Towanda, PA–their children Emily Carr and her fiancÈ, Connor Campbell, of Dallas, PA, and Jacob Carr of Towanda; and their second daughter, Joanna Stout Katherman, and her husband, Brian Katherman, of Palmyra, PA–their children Quinn and Owen Katherman of Palmyra. Marcia and Ron also lovingly remember their first little daughter, Jennifer, who passed away shortly after birth.

Marcia was a longstanding member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore. She sang in the choir, volunteered on numerous committees, and cared deeply for the church’s many missions. She was a woman who cared passionately for others and lived her life guided by compassion, fairness, and kindness.

Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
