Patricia C. “Tish” Rae
Patricia C. “Tish” Rae, 84, of Cogan Station slipped away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 21, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 19, 1941 in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late Herman and Helen (Kurtz) Greenaway.
Tish was a 1959 graduate of Williamsport High School and devoted many years of service as a billing clerk at Divine Providence Hospital. On December 16, 1972, she married the love of her life, Roger M. Rae and together they shared 29 years until his passing on October 1, 2001. A faithful and active member of Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church, she sang in the choir, was deeply involved in church life, and took special joy in creating the church bulletins. She was also a proud member of Presbyterian Women of Synod and Churches. Tish found great peace in simple pleasures, especially feeding the birds, sitting on her porch watching them, and proudly identifying each visitor by name. Above all, she cherished family and togetherness. Her home reflected her heart, always open and always welcoming, a place where everyone felt safe to dream, free to believe, and surrounded by a love that truly had no end. True to her spirit and gentle strength, one of her favorite sayings was a reminder she shared often with a smile: “Suck it up, buttercup.”
Surviving are her children, Scott L. Applegate of Williamsport, Keith A. Applegate (Peggy) of Cogan Station, Kathleen L. Wither of DuBoistown, and Michael E. Rae (Linda) of Wallis Run; 12 grandchildren, Justin Applegate, Craig Applegate (Jayme), Carrie Applegate (Callum), Stephanie Evelhair (Brian), Heather Reifsnyder (Ryan), Melissa Spong, Julie Applegate, Vanessa Hollfelder (Brett), Elliot Summers (Nicole), Sean Wither, Kristen Barsis (Dave), and Christopher Rae (Jess); 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a sister, Helen “Kitten” Kuhns of Cogan Station; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 29 years, Roger M. Rae; a son, Todd M. Applegate; and a beloved son-in-law, James D. “Jamie” Wither, III; and her siblings, Herman Greenaway, Jr., Donald Greenaway, Wayne Greenaway, Charles Greenaway, and Nancy Street.
A funeral service to honor Tish’s life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 27 at Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church, 2758 Bottle Run Road, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at church.
Memorial donations in Tish’s name may be made to Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church, 2758 Bottle Run Road, Williamsport PA 17701.
Her children would like to extend a special thanks to the devoted family members who cared for Tish, especially Kitten, Ruth, Ali, and Steve.
