Rachel A. Blake
Rachel A. Blake, 78, of Montoursville, died Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center. Born December 1, 1947, in Skowhegan, ME, she was a daughter of the late Stanley L. Norton, Sr. and the late Glenice A. (Livingston) Norton. Rachel married Richard E. Blake on December 19, 1980, and shared a special love for 40 years prior to his passing on April 12, 2021.
Rachel and her husband shared a wonderful life. Rachel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was a caring and giving person. She enjoyed visiting the elderly in nursing homes and especially enjoyed going to church and singing hymns. In 1960 Rachel graduated from the University of Maine with her bachelor’s degree in English. She went on to be an English teacher for Madison Junior High School, retiring after 36 years of teaching.
Rachel is survived by a daughter, Laurie A. (Aric) Putnam, of Saint Cloud, MN, Deborah L. (Dennis) Mack, of Johnstown, Theresa M. (Mark) Calderini, of New Castle; sons, Brian E. (Jackie) Blake, of Cogan Station, James E. (Suzi) Blake, of Jupiter, FL; brother, Stanley L. (Mary) Norton, Jr., of Sidney, ME; sister, Roberta Farrell, of Brunswick, ME, and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty~Thomas Funeral Home of Montoursville.
