Thomas S. Treat
Thomas S. Treat, age 86, passed away quietly following a lengthy illness on January 6, 2026 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home. He was born February 18, 1939 in Wellsboro, PA, a son to Edward and Eleanor Treat of Tioga. On July 14, 1962, Thomas married Virginia Heck, making their home and raising a family in Tioga. They were married for 63 years before Virginia’s passing in July of 2025. A graduate of Williamson High School, Mansfield State College and Elmira College, Thomas returned to Williamson High as a math and science teacher briefly before starting his own business as a building contractor. He worked well into his 70’s until slowing down to care for his wife. Thomas served in the Army Ready Reserve and was a 50-year member of the Tioga Masonic Lodge. Thomas was a private man who loved his family dearly. He had a small group of very close friends and never met a dog he didn’t like. Quick witted and always good for a joke, he went out of his way to help anyone that needed a hand.
Preceded in death by his parents and wife, he is survived by sons, James (Kim) Treat of Sparta, GA, and Edward (Susan) Treat of Cyclone, PA; grandchildren, Allyson (Nate) Bowen, TJ (Nikki) Treat, Katherine (Jared) Schwab, Emily Treat (Dakota Eaton); great-grandchildren, Avery, Maddox and Liam Bowen; brother, Donald Treat; sister, Betsy MacDonald both of Tioga, PA; sister-in-law, Arlene Randall of Lakeland, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
A masonic service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A visitation will follow until 3 p.m. Burial will take place in Farmington Hill Cemetery in Tioga, PA. Memorial contributions can be made to charity of one’s choice. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com.
