William J. “Bill” Kurtz

William J. “Bill” Kurtz, 84, of Duboistown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 29, 1941, in Williamsport, he was the only son of George E. Kurtz and Edith R. (Pfirman) Kurtz O’Brien.

Married to the love of his life, the late Violet E. Kurtz, for 55 beautiful years, Bill was a devoted husband, a supportive father, and an adored grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy through his son, William G. Kurtz (Terry) and daughters, Tammy L. Harris (John), and Deana L. Kurtz. The joys of his later years were his six grandchildren, Kelly (Michael), Nicole (Jerome), Matthew (Lindsey), J.J. (Maya), Nicholas (Courtney), and Nathan (Jamie), and his precious ten great-grandchildren, Logan, Jetayah, Karmani, Alaina, Graham, Caydence, Lucas, Ellie, Zoey, all of whom will miss him deeply. As a beloved brother, he is also survived by Judith D. Epright (Charles), and a united family of six step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Along with his late father and mother and his dear wife Violet, Bill rejoins with his great-grandson Trevor, and his nephews Bryan and Harold, along with his loyal dog Jake.

A self-employed carpet installer and chief of maintenance at the Williamsport Country Club, Bill’s work ethic and expertise were unparalleled. He was an active and valued member of VFW Post 7863 in Duboistown and his musical talent shone brightly as he played guitar with the Country Night Beats band, bringing joy and entertainment to many. Bill was a man who relished the great outdoors, he could often be found hunting with his son and grandsons, or fishing, making memories with his loved one’s that will last a lifetime.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, services will be private.
