Dr. Elmer C. Morrow

Dr. Elmer C. Morrow, 98, of Williamsport, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of the late Doris Mae (Ringer) Morrow with whom he shared 63 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2015.

Born October 18, 1927 in New Castle, Elmer was the son of the late John C. and Hannah (Edmunds) Morrow.

He graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1945 then enrolled in Slippery Rock State College to pursue a teaching career. It was during his time he also enlisted into the U.S. Army to serve his country not only during WWII but the Korean conflict as well.

After he was honorably discharged from the military, he received his Bachelors of Science from Slippery Rock and went on to further his education, earning a Master’s in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and Doctor of Education from Penn State University.

For 22 years, Dr. Morrow was the Director of Elementary Education for the Williamsport Area School District before his retirement in 1988.

He was a board member of Valley View Nursing Home and Head Start.

Elmer enjoyed going to church, square dancing with Susquehanna and Hanks and singing, having had the opportunity to perform in many churches and for weddings. He also enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, ice skating, gardening, playing basketball and tennis.

He volunteered at the Rescue mission and Valley View Nursing Home.

His biggest enjoyment was spending time with his family, whether gardening with his daughter Jana, or conversation about sports with his son Steve, even playing board games with his daughter Kathy with whom he lived. Elmer loved having breakfast with his best friends and receiving prayer from his friend every morning. He loved life, and everyone who knew him loved him back.

Dr. Morrow is survived by his children, Jana Carson (Keith) of Jersey Shore, Kathy Ott of Williamsport, and Steven Morrow (Stephanie) of Cape Coral, FL; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Andrew Carson and Christofer Otto; daughter-in-law, Karen Brobst Morrow; brothers, Jack Morrow and Tommy Morrow; and sisters, Justine Houston and Sally Thompson.

A funeral service to honor Elmer’s life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 PM until the time of service at Sanders.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, March 3rd at Jersey Shore Cemetery, 1103 Locust St., Jersey Shore.
