Elaine Ruth (Schultz) Boyles
Elaine Ruth (Schultz) Boyles, 79, of Montoursville passed away on February 12, 2026 at her home in Montoursville. Born on November 7, 1946 in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Eleanor (Lightfoote) Schultz.
Her early years were spent in western New York state, including living at the Lightfoote family farm. In 1960, she moved with her family to Montoursville, where she graduated from MHS in 1964. She attended Alfred State College in NY and continued on to earn her B.S. in Medical Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1968. After graduating, she worked as a medical technologist at Divine Providence Hospital and in doctors’ offices for many years before retiring in 2007 as an office manager for the Family Practice Center.
Elaine was married to David J. Boyles in 1967. They moved to Fairfield Township in 1970 where they raised their family and celebrated 58 years of marriage. She and David travelled extensively with friends and family, including trips to Australia, Asia, Southern Africa, South America, Europe and many locations in the U.S.
She loved being “Grammy” to her four grandchildren, attending countless baseball, soccer and field hockey games and swim meets, sending cards at every holiday, doing jigsaw puzzles, and pressing flowers. She loved being at the “cottage” on Waneta Lake in the Finger Lakes, where she enjoyed boat rides to visit with cousins and friends.
In addition to her husband David, Elaine is survived by a sister, Shirley (Timothy) Shannon, of Montoursville; her daughters, Heather (Bradford) Pontz of Fairfax, VA and Julie (Patrick) Devers of Gambrills, MD; her grandchildren, Cayden and Ryan Devers and Eleanor and Jack Pontz; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
